Tendinitis

I went to the doctor this morning. He's not sure, but thinks I've got tendinitis. He's sending me to a specialist. However, the first available appointment is July 13th! So I noticed my foot bothering me June 11 and may get it all sorted out a month later. And why is it spelled tendinitis when it's a problem with the tendon?
