St. Francis of Assisi

Today is the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. Known for his love of animals, St. Francis is a favorite saint of mine. I have a small statue of him in my garden, marking the cemetery. In the past I have taken some of my kids to be blessed. Actually, the rats do the best with getting blessed! I didn't realize today was the day-maybe next year I'll make a point to find a church doing animal blessings; sadly, not all of them do. So give your furry friends a special hug and treat today-your finned, scaled, and feathered ones too and those hairless breeds-and the wild ones outside. Consider making a donation to an animal welfare group. Today, remember the animals and how they bless our lives!
