A Bug?

I hope I'm not coming down with a bug...but I think I am. A few patients at work have cold symptoms and I woke up feeling like a cold was coming on. It's been rainy and damp these past few days-though it's gorgeous today...if a little chilly. Hopefully, I won't get a full cold. It's bad enough that my back is bothering me-I don't want to suffer through a cold as well!

Raise Awareness Wednesday

There are so many worthwhile causes out there-all needing support. Aside from needing money-many are virtually unknown. With that in mind I decided to copy an idea from Surf Dog Ricochet and have Raise Awareness Wednesday. Each Wednesday I'll highlight a different organization, or problem.  Since I got the idea from them-today I'll write about Surf Dog Ricochet. Ricochet is a golden retriever who surfs with disabled surfers and special needs kids for therapy. Yes, he surfs! He also raises funds and awareness for many animal and human causes. In addition to the website, you can find him on Facebook and Youtube! Be sure to check out this inspirational dog and the causes he supports!

Back to the Old Grind

It's back to work time. Back to the old grind, back to the salt mines, back to hell. I'm afraid to see what's going on there now. Bye bye vacation time. It's been nice.

The Manhattan Transfer - Chanson D'amour

Of course I see Mr Humphries, Mrs. Slocumbe, and Miss Brahms rat-a-tatting to this tune sung by Mr. Spooner (with Captain Peacock on piano and Mr. Rumbold on accordion, of course.

Lovely Day

Today was a lovely day. I quite enjoyed myself. I'm very tired now-so sorry, no details. In short, Sam got 2 walks, plus several play sessions. I went to a Pet Expo, discovered an amazing chocolate shop, had fun shopping and got tons of bargains, and had a lovely lunch out and a relaxing evening in with great wine-and some of that fantastic chocolate. Now it's bath and bed time. I'll sleep well tonight!

Destructive

Sam is a little bit destructive. He's tearing Barret's big bed apart. I just listened to him ripping the fleece bit. The orthopedic foam is partially in pieces...in fact Callie was playing with a piece of it last night. He also ran up to me with the head off one of his toys...and a tennis ball lasts about a day. At least he's only destroying his own stuff.

Don't Blame the Dog

For the past week or so I've been finding a puddle in the kitchen by the table. I thought Sam had had an accident. The weird thing is that I was finding it while I was home. He'd be fine all the time when I was gone to work...but he'd leave a wet spot when I was sleeping. Now I've been on vacation. I've been home more and Sam goes outside more...but I still find the puddle. It's weird too, because it's quite clear. Well today I cleaned up the puddle...again...and then got on the computer. Sam was snoozing on his bed. The cats were all upstairs. I went into the kitchen...and saw a puddle. OK. Sam could not have done it-he hadn't even gone in the kitchen. Hmm. There's a plastic bottle of vinegar on the floor under the kitchen table. Hmmm. That puddle isn't really yellow at all. Hmm. I picked up the vinegar bottle and sure enough, drip, drip, drip. The vinegar bottle is leaking in the kitchen. Not Sam. Sorry Sam, lesson learned-don't blame the dog!

Dyngus Day!

Happy Dyngus Day! You know you're in Buffalo when you go to 3 stores and 2 of them wish you a Happy Dyngus Day! I love the day to share my Polish pride, even if I didn't smack anyone with a pussywillow branch. I wore my Polish Platter t-shirt from andBuffalo as well as my Polish Buffalo hoodie from Celebrate Buffalo. I picked up my grand prize from the Erie County SPCA and almost brought home a cat. He's a 7 month old charmer-even my mom was smitten. My cats would kill me-"First you bring home a dog...now another cat!!!!!" But he is so tempting...At any rate-I got tons of goodies for all of the kids thanks to Aquinas' big win! Mom and I also stopped at Penzey's Spices where we picked up some goodies and got free stuff-yea coupons! We also met a sweet cat in the shop next door-Pudding. I also met a nice macaw who talked with me..."Hi!" It was a nice day...and I completely agree with what my mom said; what made it extra nice was the animals. Now, about an extra cat...

Happy Easter!

I wish everyone a joyous Easter! I actually celebrated the holiday yesterday. I took the trip to my folks house. We started with a traditional Easter breakfast: fresh Polish sausage with beet horseradish, rye bread with butter (from a butter lamb, of course) hard boiled Easter eggs, and fresh pineapple. After that Mom and I went to the cemetery. We put flowers on the graves and wished everyone a Happy Easter. Back home and the eating continued-chips and my favorite leek dip and champagne! Then dinner! Easter ham (with beet horseradish and/or honey mustard-I switched it up between the two) mashed potatoes and gravy. We called my aunt in California, then dessert-homemade chocolate mousse! Fully stuffed I made my way home to my kids. Today is a relaxing day with those kids. Sam and I had our walk early, then Harley and I had a ride. Now I'm in comfy clothes. I'm about to open the champagne and have some snacks. Then I have to clean rat cages..and perhaps work around the house...I hope you're having a wonderful Easter!

Early Start

My vacation got an early start as I did not go in to work today. Remember that sore back of which I spoke? I knew, limping around at work last night, that there was no way I could make it through today. So...I didn't go to work. I went to my doctor's office, where I got some advice (hot pads) and a prescription. My doc was out, but I saw the Nurse practitioner. Now I'm relaxing...albeit still without my TV. Well, time for another episode of Are you Being Served? with a glass of champagne and some dried sausage!

Ugh

My back is killing me, work is terrible, can I make it through two more evenings to get to my vacation?
